Monalishi (Green Manalishi S) demonstrated her resilience by securing victory in the Ontario Sires Stakes’ fifth Gold leg for two-year-old trotting fillies at Woodbine Mohawk Park on September 30, bouncing back from a previous loss in the Mohawk Million. After starting in fifth place, James MacDonald guided her to challenge Foxy Amee (Paul MacDonell), who led at the half in 57.4 seconds. Monalishi applied pressure, finishing the three-quarters mark in 1:26.3 before taking control at the top of the stretch. Despite a strong late charge from Lil Sweet (Doug McNair), Monalishi held on to win by a head in 1:54.3, with Lil Sweet in second and Foxy Amee in third.
With this win, Monalishi improves her record to six victories out of nine races, accumulating earnings of $495,311. She is trained by Blake Macintosh, who shares ownership with Tim Klemencic.
In other races, You Got It Kemp (Muscle Mass) continued his unbeaten streak, winning the fifth Gold leg for colts in 1:55, while Willys Home Run (Archangel) achieved a personal best of 1:53 in the series for three-year-old fillies. What About Elmo (Il Sogno Dream) sparked a mild upset in the male trotters' division, winning at 5-1 with a 1:52.4 score.
