Moreau Students Shine at Mohawk

On the evening of Monday, July 22, Richard Moreau showcased his talent at Woodbine Mohawk Park, harnessing seven horses, four of which reached the winner's circle, while a total of six finished in the money. Leading the pack was Fashion Frenzie, who claimed victory in the $36,000 Preferred Handicap Trot.

Despite starting from the outside post in a six-horse field, driver Louis-Philippe Roy wasted no time, quickly securing the lead with Fashion Frenzie. Once in front, he maintained a comfortable two-length advantage, clocking fractions of :26.3, :55, and 1:23.4, before sailing to a decisive 3-1/2-length victory in a time of 1:52.2. Handsome Sebastian, driven by Trevor Henry, finished in second place, while Franks Angel, driven by Bob McClure, took third. Although Gaines Hanover, a stablemate of Fashion Frenzie, made an uncharacteristic error before the race began, he still managed to finish fifth and earn a share of the purse.

Fashion Frenzie is a six-year-old son of Archangel, out of the Striking Sahbra mare Striking Fashion, and is proudly owned by Ecurie Francis Richard Inc., Gestion Mario Bourgea Inc., Pierre Guillemette, and Sylvain Richard. This win marked his second triumph in six starts this year. Throughout his career, he has amassed $1,208,587 in earnings, boasting a record of 26 wins, 5 second-place finishes, and 2 third-place finishes in 46 starts. He paid $2.60 to win.

Beyond the victory in the feature race and the fifth-place finish, Moreau also celebrated wins with Mister Magic ($3.70) in an $18,000 conditioned trot, Stonebridge Bravo ($10.90) in another conditioned trot with James MacDonald driving, and secured a second-place finish with Nasey (Doug McNair) in a $24,000 conditioned trot. He rounded out a remarkable evening with Bella Cavalla ($17.90) in another $18,000 conditioned trot, completing a remarkable quartet of wins.
