On Saturday, Matheson Triples At Charlottetown
On Saturday, May 25 harness racing event at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, trainer Ron Matheson sent out three winners, with his trainees finding the winner's circle on both ends of the program.
Two of the wins were produced by Gilles Barrieau for Matheson. The pair won the $4,000 Preferred Pace, which was won by Twin B Tuffenuff in a 1:53 front-end time for trainer Matheson and owner Pat Morris, and the opening dash with Ashes To Ashes (1:56.1). Just ahead of All Bets On Tex (Adam Merner) was Roll Em (Marc Campbell).
Redmond Doucet's driving triple helped propel the horseman from Nova Scotia to the top of the rankings in the 2024 Atlantic Regional Driving Championship, and Matheson's third victory of the day was his first. With the three triumphs, Matheson, who is from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, has 950 training victories in his career and has earned over $1.7 million in purse earnings.
