In the main harness racing event at The Raceway in the Western Fair District on Tuesday, April 16, Johnny Buckshot (Il Sogno Dream) wired his Preferred Trot competitors for his fourth win of the year at the highest level of the track.
He set up panels of :28.1, :57.4, and 1:26.2 in line with Tyler Borth, with Travis Henry's parked El Toro Loco directly off his right flank from three-eighths into the stretch. El Toro Loco continued to fight as they got more away from the field, but he was unable to catch Johnny Buckshot, who led by two and a half lengths and won in 1:56.3. Andy Over (Ed Hensley), the show winner, was two and a quarter length ahead of El Toro Loco in second place.
With his win in a lifetime-best time, Johnny Buckshot's career total of 14 wins in 49 starts rose to $95,962. The five-year-old, who has already won four Preferred races this year, is trained by Katie MacNeil for Brad Wilson, the Camlachie breeder and owner.
Wednesday, April 17, at 5:50 p.m. EDT, is when racing at The Raceway at the Western Fair District will resume. A Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace will be the feature event on October 10.
