During a special Victoria Day Monday (May 20) program at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway, All Bets On Tex was all business on opening day.
The All Bets Off son trained by Jeff Lilley stormed to the lead in the $3,600 featured pace and won all four calls in 27.4, 56.2, 1:26, and 1:55.1. After a late challenge, David Dowling's Middleton Terror had to settle for second place, and Jaycob Sweet's Coasttocoastshark finished third.
In the $2,850 back-up class, Mr. Kelly triumphed, with a pace of 1:56.4 for driver Merner, trainer Melissa Rennie, and owners Kevin Teasdale, Cory Livingston, and Marsha Knox. Frontier Cruise (Brady Sweet) was in second place, behind Howmac Maximus (Damian MacLellan).
Jaycob Sweet demonstrated his versatility as a trainer-driver by breaking the record with James Reigns in a 2:02.2 mile and leading Freemans Legacy in a front-stepping 1:57.1 mile.
