Outlawguns N Roses Shines in $80,000 ABSS Super Final

Outlawguns N Roses capped an impressive sophomore season by winning the $80,000 Alberta Sires Stakes (ABSS) Super Final for three-year-old fillies on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Century Mile. Guided by driver Dave Kelly, she patiently settled in third through a :27.3 opening quarter and :56.4 and 1:25.2 middle fractions as Byby Baby Byby and Over Ice battled up front. In the stretch, Outlawguns N Roses surged forward, passing the leaders to secure a dominant three-and-a-half-length win in 1:54.3. This marks her sixth consecutive win, and she has now won 11 of 13 starts this season for trainer Rod Starkewski and co-owner Clauzette Byckal, with lifetime earnings of $380,810.

Two-year-old standout Custard Dolce continued her streak, winning her eighth consecutive stakes race in the Super Final for freshman fillies. Driven by Phil Giesbrecht, she took the lead in the second quarter, fended off a challenge from Mademechangemymind, and powered home to win by five-and-three-quarter lengths in 1:55. Trained by Jamie Gray, Custard Dolce has earned $139,437 this season.

Western Canada Pacing Derby champion Grey Horizon also claimed victory, winning his seventh straight stakes race in the three-year-old colts and geldings Super Final. Driver Brandon Campbell guided him to a 1:55 finish, boosting his career earnings to $340,725.

In the freshman colts and geldings Super Final, Custers Stand held off Momas Work Of Art to win by a neck in 1:55.4, marking his third consecutive victory for trainer Marie Brooking and his connections.
