Pletcher's Fillies Shine at Gulfstream Park
Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher celebrated victories by two talented 3-year-old fillies at Gulfstream Park on January 11.
- Whisper Hill Farm's Leslie's Rose ($2.40) won the sixth race, remaining undefeated in two starts. Trained by Pletcher, the daughter of Into Mischief secured victory by a length over Gun Song in a seven-furlong optional claiming allowance for 3-year-old fillies.
- Pretty Liam ($9.80), another Pletcher-trained filly, won her debut by 3 3/4 lengths in a five-furlong maiden special weight race for 3-year-old fillies, moved from turf to Tapeta. The daughter of Liam's Map defeated pacesetter Beanpot.
Leslie's Rose, ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., completed seven furlongs in 1:23.36, and a yet-to-be-determined stakes appearance is likely for her next start.
Pretty Liam, a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Danse Macabre, is expected to return in a turf allowance race after her successful debut on the Tapeta surface.
Pletcher expressed satisfaction with both fillies' performances.
