Rainbow 6 Offers Payout This Sunday

While there won't be a significant carryover, bettors can still look forward to a mandatory payout on Sunday as the Rainbow 6 jackpot fell short of $2 million. A 20-cent wager transformed into a $345,600.26 win on Saturday at Gulfstream Park, extinguishing hopes for a larger jackpot.

Saturday’s betting sequence featured the Grade 3, $220,000 Princess Rooney, which was won by Soul of an Angel ($6.40), securing a spot in the Breeders' Cup. The card also included the Bob Umphrey and Ginger Purse, with several races moved from turf to the Tapeta surface. A surprise victory came in the third leg with long shot Rouki ($102.80) winning a five-furlong turf race now run on Tapeta.

For Sunday’s Rainbow 6, which covers races 5-10, the sequence begins with a $35,000 claimer at a mile on turf, featuring a field of nine 3-year-olds and upwards. The morning-line favourite, Yes This Time, trained by Nolan Ramsey, is listed at 9-5 after winning 4 of 8 starts at Gulfstream while returning from a competitive run at Kentucky Downs. Saffie Joseph Jr.'s Treasure King enters the race fresh off a brief break and will start from the rail position.

In race 6, the $25,000 claiming event for fillies and mares, Star of Saturday, ridden by Paco López, aims for another win after her success in an optional claiming allowance this past March at Gulfstream. Meanwhile, Joseph-trained Look Like It seeks her third consecutive victory following a disappointing debut.

Race 7 promises an engaging matchup among a full field of 3-year-olds and up in a mile-and-70-yard bottom claimer on Tapeta, likely to attract widespread attention from bettors. Tuddenham Mill, entering at a career-low odds of 20-1 for Team Valor International, seeks redemption in his second start off a layoff.

In race 8, a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight for fillies and mares, Here’s the Kicker is the morning-line favourite at 4-5 after a near win at this level, while Jena Antonucci-trained Tap Manuka is expected to impress in her debut.

Race 9 features a competitive field of seven 3-year-olds and up in a six-furlong starter allowance. King Cab will pursue his third consecutive victory at this level after being claimed by Milton Núñez. Other contenders include Victor Barboza Jr.’s Zydeceaux and Power Humor, who have shown strong performances in their recent outings.

The Rainbow 6 sequence concludes with race 10, a $35,000 maiden claimer for 2-year-olds going a mile on turf. Rohan Crichton-trained Formulate, off a series of impressive workouts, will make his debut against a field of 10. Jeremiah O’Dwyer-trained Always True aims for a stronger finish after a second-place debut, while Bobby DiBona-trained Super Sailor drops in class after a promising showing.

On mandatory payout days, the entire Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is awarded to bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence. Typically, the carryover jackpot is only paid when a single unique ticket is sold with all winners; on days with no unique ticket, 70% of that day’s pool is distributed to bettors with winning tickets, while 30% is carried over to the jackpot pool.
