Ramjet Soars to Victory in Tokyo Derby

With lineage tracing back to Unbridled's Song and A.P. Indy, Ramjet is emerging as a formidable force in Japanese dirt racing, capturing attention worldwide. Following in the footsteps of Forever Young, who clinched third place in the Kentucky Derby (G1), Ramjet stormed to a six-length victory on June 5th in the Tokyo Derby at Oi Racecourse, marking his fourth consecutive win.

While Ramjet skipped the first leg of the Japan Dirt Triple Crown series, won by Amante Bianco, any hopes of a Triple Crown victory were dashed. However, with Ramjet's impressive display, the dirt racing scene in Japan is gaining momentum, propelled further by notable victories on the global stage.

Looking beyond local circuits, trainer Shozo Sasaki has grand ambitions for Ramjet. After a summer break, Ramjet is set to compete in the Japan Dirt Classic, with aspirations to match strides with Forever Young. Sasaki envisions Ramjet challenging prestigious overseas races in the coming year, leveraging his untapped potential.

In the Tokyo Derby, Ramjet and jockey Kosei Miura faced minimal resistance, effortlessly surging ahead after a brief setback on the Oi track's hairpin turns. Clocking 2:06.1 over 2,000 meters, Ramjet's victory showcased his prowess over the distance.

Miura, unfazed by Ramjet's momentary hesitation, navigated the colt to victory, highlighting his adaptability and determination. Ramjet's consistent victories, including the Hyacinth Stakes and the Unicorn Stakes, underscore his versatility and stamina, setting the stage for potential international triumphs.

With a lineage conducive to classic-distance success on dirt, Ramjet's pedigree, coupled with his impressive track record, positions him as a contender on the global stage. As he continues to soar, Ramjet epitomizes the growing prominence of Japanese dirt racing on the world's racing circuit.
