Rebel's Romance is scheduled to arrive in Hong Kong prior to the Sword Dancer (G1T) on August 24.
Rebel's Romance, the victor of the Dubai Sheema Classic (G1T), will be joining an expanded satellite yard that will house about twelve horses trained by Charlie Appleby that will be campaigning in the United States during the summer.
The Godolphin owner has long enjoyed success across the Atlantic, and he is progressively running some of his top horses, especially those who have participated in Dubai Carnival races, there.
Rebel's Romance appeared to have reignited his career after winning the Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T) at Keeneland in 2022. The latter victory came in the $6 million Dubai Sheema Classic, which put Appleby on the board on Dubai World Cup (G1) night.
Before joining his stablemates in the United States, who include recent Maker's Mark Mile (G1T) victor Master of the Seas, the 6-year-old might try his hand at a race in Hong Kong.
Appleby stated: "Rebel's Romance could go to Hong Kong at the end of this month, but the plan is to ship him to the U.S. where his target would be the grade 1 Sword Dancer Stakes at Saratoga in August."On Kentucky Derby day, Master of the Seas is scheduled to race at Churchill Downs in the Old Forester Turf Classic (G1T). Additionally, Nation's Pride will be competing, and they will compete at Aqueduct the following week in the Man o' War Stakes (G2T). Following that, the entire squad will cruise to Saratoga, which is opening a month early due to Belmont's closure.``
Regarding the broader context of his growing population in the United States, Appleby stated: "We have been operating something akin to a satellite yard when you reach a figure of twelve. We have achieved success because the racing is a good fit for us and the horses that have been competing in Dubai since they enjoy the fast track.
It makes timing sense if you have the correct horses, and it works especially well with older horses. In terms of personnel, Alex Merriam, the assistant trainer, will be going to Churchill Downs and Aqueduct, and ideally, I will be able to make it to Saratoga later on when the weather is better."
