Trainer Rick Dutrow is optimistic about his horses White Abarrio and Master Piece, despite El Capi's shin issues. Dutrow, who previously trained notable horses like Big Brown and Saint Liam, is particularly enthusiastic about White Abarrio. He left him in Santa Anita under his brother Chip's care after a victory in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. The 5-year-old has been preparing for the Saudi Cup on February 24, with impressive training sessions.
Dutrow, rebounding from a decade-long suspension for medication violations, plans to travel to Saudi Arabia by February 12, shortly before the Saudi Cup. Prince Faisal Bin Khaled Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, a previous Saudi Cup winner, has invested in White Abarrio, who will now race under the prince's colors.
Master Piece, another horse under Dutrow's guidance, is also showing promise. Trained for the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational at Gulfstream Park, he has been thriving in the cold at Belmont Park. Despite concerns about adapting to Florida's warmer climate, Dutrow is hopeful for a strong performance, planning to transport Master Piece just in time for the race.
