Rooney and Borth Are Anticipating First Ontario Regional

At The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday, April 23, Tyler Borth and Garrett Rooney will participate in the Ontario Regional Driving Championship (ORDC). The drivers in first and second place will go on to the National Driving Championship (NDC), which takes place on July 5 in Trois-Rivières, Quebec. An invitation to represent Canada at the 2025 World Driving Championship (WDC) in New Zealand will be extended to the winner of the 2024 NDC.

As first-time ORDC participants, Borth and Rooney are anticipating a thrilling night of racing at The Raceway.

With 414 wins and $4.3 million banked last year, Borth had a career-best season. This is his first time playing in the Regional Driving Championship. The inhabitant of Ingersoll, Ontario, has earned $1.1 million this season and has just over 100 driving victories. In addition to his hectic racing schedule, Borth has 155 lifetime training victories and is a stable manager for ten horses.

Rooney completed 2023 with 264 victories and almost $1.4 million in purse money. He also had his finest season the previous year. Currently leading the 2024 driver rankings at The Raceway, he has racked up 79 victories on the circuit in London, Ontario. The driver from Iona, Ontario, has earned over $8.5 million from winning 1,591 races in his career. Having just finished back-to-back million-dollar seasons, he received an invitation to compete in his first Regional Driving Championship.

Before the Ontario Regional, Standardbred Canada conducted a series of interviews with Borth (TB) and Rooney (GR) to learn more about their opinions on the competition.
