Seaside Diva triumphed at MGM Northfield Park

Seaside Diva extended her flawless streak in the Ohio Sires Stakes (OHSS) with a victory in her latest division for 3-year-old filly pacers on Sunday, Aug. 18, at MGM Northfield Park.

Competing in the fastest of two $89,041 fourth-round divisions, Seaside Diva, driven by Ronnie Wrenn Jr., dominated the field with a wire-to-wire win in 1:52. The daughter of Downbytheseaside seized control early, setting fractions of :27, :55.4, and 1:24 before cruising to a six-length victory as the 1-9 favourite. No Foolin April (Brett Miller) secured second place, while Katies Up (Hunter Myers) finished third.

Trained by Ron Burke and owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Knox Services, and Let It Ride Stables, the homebred Seaside Diva has now won nine of her 11 starts this year, amassing nearly $660,000 in lifetime earnings.

In the other division, Naked On A Hill, driven by Jeff Nisonger, claimed victory in 1:54. Despite sitting third along the rail and trailing by six lengths at the half-mile mark, Naked On A Hill surged late, going three-wide on the final turn to secure the win by over a length. Im A Beach Lady (Aaron Merriman) held on for second, while Zuma Beach (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) took third.

Naked On A Hill is trained by Mark Winters for owner/breeder Dennis Shaner. The daughter of Nob Hill High has hit the board in nine of 12 starts this season, winning four times and bringing her career earnings close to $200,000.

Ohio Sires Stakes action continues on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Northfield Park, featuring the 3-year-old filly trotters. The first race is scheduled for 6 p.m.
