Seize the Grey is preparing for the upcoming Grade 2 race

Seize the Grey breezed six furlongs on Saratoga's main track Tuesday morning in preparation for the upcoming Grade 2 Jim Dandy on July 27. The Preakness winner, who finished seventh in the Belmont Stakes, completed the distance in 1:11.52 seconds, marking him as the only worker at that distance.

Trainer D. Wayne Lukas has his sights set on the Travers (G1) on August 24 for Seize the Grey, thanks to incentives from Gainesway Farm related to the acquisition of breeding rights for the Arrogate colt.

On Tuesday, Seize the Grey was among five graded-stakes winners who clocked published works.

The Arrogate colt, a Grade 1 winner after the 2024 Preakness, worked six furlongs in 1:11.5 at Saratoga. This was his only work at that distance, following a five-furlong breeze there a week prior. In his most recent race, he finished seventh in the Belmont on June 8.

Roses for Debra (Liam's Map), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2024 Giant's Causeway, 2023 Caress), also worked Tuesday morning, covering four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Saratoga, the fourth-fastest of 11 at that distance. She last worked eight days ago and placed second in the Intercontinental (G2) on June 7.

Happy American (Runhappy), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Louisiana), clocked five furlongs in 1:02.6 at Churchill Downs, ranking as the 12th fastest of 14 at the distance. This marked his first work si is nce finishing sixth in the Hanshin on June 30.

Highestdistinction (Point of Entry), a Grade 3 winner (2023 International Turf Cup), recorded a five-furlong work in 1:02.2 at Monmouth Park, the only work at that distance. He previously breezed four furlongs there a week ago and won an allowance race on October 13.

Whelen Springs (Street Sense), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Philip H. Iselin), worked four furlongs in 48.2 seconds at Monmouth Park, the fastest of 15 at that distance. His last work was also four furlongs a week prior, and he finished seventh in an allowance race on December 15.
