Standardbred Horse Sale Sees Strong Bids

The 2024 Standardbred Horse Sale is underway at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA, with live video and results available for all sessions. The third of five sessions commenced today, November 6, featuring Hips 553-910, and runs from 10 a.m. through the day. Two mixed sessions are set to follow on Thursday and Friday, starting at 11 a.m. each day.

In Monday's opening session, bidding reached remarkable heights when Cambridge Hanover, selling as Hip 104, fetched $1,388,889 (USD 1 million). This standout colt, consigned by Hanover Shoe Farm, was bought by Andrew Harris of Allentown, NJ, as an agent. Sired by Walner, Cambridge Hanover is the second foal from the Father Patrick mare Crucial and a half-brother to top trotter Maryland, whose accomplishments include victories in the Breeders Crown and Mohawk Million.

The excitement continued on Tuesday, with Upgrade and Ellie Hanover sharing top honours in the second session, each selling for $416,667 (USD 300,000). Upgrade, Hip 313, a filly by Green Manalishi S, was purchased by Bax Stables of Ontario. Consigned by Concord Stud Farm, she is the second foal of Uptown Classic, a mare with ties to stakes winners like Classical Annie.

Ellie Hanover, Hip 439, also fetched $416,667, going to Ake Svanstedt of New Jersey. A Captain Corey filly consigned by Hanover Shoe Farms, Ellie Hanover is a sibling to stakes winners like Elan Hanover.
