The 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Ontario Sires

The 50th Anniversary Celebration tour of the Ontario Sires Stakes will stop at Kawartha Downs on Friday, July 19 featuring four Grassroots and three Prospect Series races, all for two-year-old pacing fillies. The Grassroots races will offer $20,000 purses, while the Prospect Series races will have $8,000 purses.

Local trainer John Thomson will showcase Forrest Leah in the Grassroots race, coming off a perfect record in two starts. The filly is co-owned by Thomson and Larry Todd and was bred in Delaware and Ontario.

Other top contenders in the Grassroots races include Tricky Wicky and Saddlebags, both aiming for victory in their respective divisions. In the Prospect Series race, April Shadows, trained by a local and owned by Rosetown Stable, will be a favourite with driver Reg Gassien.

Fans attending the races will have the opportunity to participate in giveaways, enjoy activity books for children, and view a timeline showcasing the 50-year history of the OSS. Post time is 7 p.m. and those unable to attend in person can watch the races on the Kawartha Downs YouTube channel and place wagers via HPIBet.
