The IFHA will host a global summit at Woodbine on equine safety and technology
The Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Canada, will host the International Federation of Horse Racing Authorities (IFHA) Global Summit on Equine Safety and Technology from June 12–14. October 2023 saw the conclusion of the most recent IFHA International Conference of Horseracing Authorities, which addressed changes in public expectations and the protection of horse welfare.
“Equine welfare is racing's single most important priority, and it is at the centre of all decisions we make,” noted IFHA Chair Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges. “That is why the IFHA has invested significantly in delivering an event that will bring about meaningful enhancements to horse safety and further incorporate cutting-edge technological advances into our systems.”
Throughout the three-day, invitation-only event, experts in the disciplines of fracture prevention and exercise-associated sudden death (EASD) will be conducting scientific and regulatory workshops.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Equine Welfare Research Foundation, Woodbine Entertainment Group, and the Harry M. Zweig Memorial Fund for Equine Research, a program at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine, all provide sponsorship for the IFHA meeting.
