The impressive workouts at various tracks
On Wednesday, several graded-stakes winners showcased their preparation for upcoming races with impressive workouts at various tracks. Notably, Il Miracolo, a 4-year-old colt by Gun Runner, posted a swift four-furlong breeze in 47.95 seconds at Saratoga, ranking as the eighth fastest of 30 at the distance. This marks his second work since his Grade 3 Ghostzapper victory and sets him up for the Philip H. Iselin Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park on Saturday. Trainer Antonio Sano mentioned a later goal for Il Miracolo is the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) on September 1.
Another standout was Bound for Nowhere, a two-time Grade 2 winner, who clocked five furlongs in 1:01.4 at Keeneland, the fifth fastest out of six works at the distance. After a win in an allowance race at Churchill Downs, he's gearing up for his next race.
Roses for Debra worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Saratoga, showing resilience after a strong second place in the Intercontinental (G2). Similarly, Tawny Port also registered 50.2 seconds for four furlongs at Belmont Park, following a third-place finish in the United Nations (G2).
On the west coast, Big City Lights had the only six-furlong work at Del Mar, finishing in 1:11.6 after a competitive outing in the Triple Bend (G2). Meanwhile, Danse Macabre achieved a noteworthy 48.8 seconds for her four-furlong work at Turfway Park, following her performance in the Caress (G3).
Lastly, Dynadrive closed out the day's workouts at Turfway Park, working five furlongs in 1:02.6, though it was the slowest of 16 works at that distance, coming after an eighth-place finish in the Elkhorn (G2).
Overall, the day's workouts highlighted significant preparations from these talented graded-stakes winners as they look ahead to their next competitive challenges.
