Workinitonbroadway (Broadway Hall), a journeyman trotter, won the top-conditioned harness racing event at The Raceway in the Western Fair District on Tuesday, May 14, marking his 47th career victory.
Donnie Rankin posted fractions of :30, 1:00.4, and 1:30.1 to lead his gelding to a wire-to-wire win. As he turned to go toward the backstretch, Monteverdi (Natasha Day) got the better of him and continued to grind him out in the stretch. He continued to close until he reached the finish line, but Workinitonbroadway held on for the victory in 1:59.4, and he was unable to break through. In third place, three lengths back, was Stonebridge Zeus (Scott Wray).
In his 169 career starts, Workinitonbroadway has now won 47 of them, earning $382,196. Since July of 2023, Rankin and Chris Hadrian have shared ownership, training, and driving of the gelding. This year, the eight-year-old is four for seventeen.
Anthony Haughan and Tyler Borth each won two races that night.
Wednesday, May 15, is scheduled as the next card at The Raceway in the Western Fair District. At 5:50 p.m. EDT, a Fillies and Mares Preferred will begin the proceedings. Four City of London eliminations and the inaugural leg of the Prospect Series for three-year-old pacers of both sexes will also be featured on the card.
