The Thoroughbred Owners of California (TOC) has unanimously appointed Mark Glatt to its board of directors, filling a vacancy left by the recent resignation of long-time member Rick Gold.
Glatt, an accomplished owner and trainer, brings extensive experience and a deep passion for the sport to the TOC. After completing his studies at Western Washington University, he began training Thoroughbreds in 1995, initially managing a second string for his father at Yakima Meadows. He then moved to Golden Gate Fields in Northern California in 1996, and by 2000, he relocated to Southern California. Throughout his career, Glatt has achieved over 1,200 wins and has earned more than $47 million.
Residing in Monrovia, Glatt lives with his wife Dena and their children, Ryan, Luke, and Madison. TOC President and CEO Bill Nader expressed his enthusiasm for Glatt's appointment, stating, “We are very pleased to welcome Mark Glatt. He brings a wealth of experience as a trainer and owner to the TOC board. Mark is intelligent, thoughtful, hard-working, and passionate about the sport, and he will be a great asset to the organisation.”
Nader also highlighted Glatt's active involvement with the TOC leading up to his appointment. “He has been an observer at our weekly meetings, as well as our monthly board meetings, over the past few months and has proved to be a quick study. He's ready and will be a great addition to our team,” Nader continued.
Glatt’s appointment is seen as a positive step for the TOC, enhancing its leadership with his valuable insights and dedication to the sport.
