The one thousandth victory in training for Marino

Call 9-1 On Thursday (April 4) evening at Fraser Downs, there was no need for any emergency. However, an exciting milestone was reached as Jim Marino's trainer reached out to summon his trainer to celebrate an impressive achievement of 1,000 wins.

In the $6,000 maiden conditioned pace, Scott Knight and the gelding took an early lead, hugging the pylons. Talladega (David Hudon) raced to the quarter in:28.3. However, Phone Nine One One swiftly claimed the lead at the half in 59 and continued to dominate at three-quarters in 1:29.1. Phone Nine One One emerged victorious, leaving its competitors behind by a significant margin of 3-1/2 lengths, completing the race in an impressive time of 1:58. It displayed remarkable speed and never once glanced back. It was time for Iceman (Clinton Warrington) to claim the third spot, but instead, he secured second place, while Talladega settled for a close second-third position.

Jim Marino, Paul Sanders, and J J J Stables are the proud owners of a unique and creatively named gelding, Custard TheDragon-Phone Terror, who is in his sophomore year. Marino achieved a remarkable milestone by securing his 1,000th victory, breaking his previous streak of eight unsuccessful attempts with Phone Nine One One. This triumph has significantly boosted his bankroll, now standing at an impressive $22,550. He emerged victorious as the clear frontrunner, with odds of $2.80 in his favour.
