The Ontario HBPA appoints Steve Lym as the executive director

The Ontario Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association has appointed Steve Lym as its executive director.

Formerly, Lym dedicated over 40 years to Woodbine, holding the position of racing secretary from 2003 to 2013, and subsequently serving as director of racing until his departure in 2018, as stated in a news release published by the Ontario HBPA on X.

"We are thrilled to welcome Steve back to Ontario," expressed HBPA president Sue Leslie in the release. "Steve possesses extensive expertise in the horse racing sector, particularly within Ontario."

Lym served as vice president of racing and racing secretary at Santa Anita from late 2018 until November 2020, at which point he was elevated to the position of senior vice president for racing development at 1/ST.
