At the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale on Tuesday, a Wootton Bassett (GB) half-sister to the Hong Kong great Golden Sixty (Medaglia d'Oro) sold for A$1-million (US$667,900) from the Goodman family's Mt. Brilliant Farm.
“We love the filly, she's got a beautiful pedigree and she's by Wootton Bassett. It doesn't come any better than that and we are thrilled,” said Hutton Goodman.
With multiple mares situated in the Hunter Valley, the industry is well-known throughout the Australian industry.
“It is hard to buy yearlings like her and she ticked all of our boxes. There is a lot of American stuff in there which will help us if we eventually bring her home,” Goodman said.
Though the filly is a half-sister to Golden Sixty, her dam Gaudeamus (Distorted Humor), who won Group 2, also produced two stakes placegetters and two metropolitan winners. She was bred by Element Hill and included in their unconditional dispersal, much like Golden Sixty.
With 10 times Group 1 winner Imperatriz (Aus) (I Am Invincible {Aus}) landing for an Australasian broodmare prospect record of A$6.6 million (US$4,408,140), Zhijun Zhao (Yulong as partners) topped the sale.
