Todd Schadel Nears Career Milestone with Harrah’s Philadelphia Win

Harness racing trainer and driver Todd Schadel edged closer to a significant career milestone on Sunday at Harrah’s Philadelphia, guiding Internationalcraze to victory in one of two $12,000 trotting features. This triumph brought Schadel’s lifetime driving win tally to 1,999, marking another highlight in his record-breaking year.

Driving Internationalcraze, a sophomore gelding by International Moni, Schadel executed a decisive mid-race move after starting fourth. Following a :29.2 opening quarter, the gelding advanced steadily, seizing the lead by the halfway mark in :59. He extended his advantage through a strong third quarter, reaching three-quarters in 1:27.1 before finishing 2¼ lengths ahead of Southwind Python. Schadel co-owns Internationalcraze with Christine Schadel and Rick and Regina Beinhauer.

This win represented Schadel’s 115th driving victory of 2024, a personal best for a single season. Notably, he leads North America in driver and trainer percentages for professionals with 300-499 starts, boasting a .450 UDR and .482 UTR, respectively.

In the day’s second co-feature, Voss Blue Chip, a gelding by E L Titan, overcame an outside post to secure a gate-to-wire win in 1:58.1. Trained by Cameron Capone and owned by Paul Kautz, the gelding was driven by Simon Allard, who claimed four victories during the card.

Meanwhile, driver Bradley Chisholm continued his knack for longshot wins, piloting Sprout to a $50.60 upset. With four $50+ winners this meet, Chisholm remains a name to watch.

Harrah’s fall schedule concludes this week, with adjusted holiday racing times ahead.
