Alberta's Challenge of Champions Night at Century Mile saw top performers dominate the Alberta Sires Stakes, culminating in the Super Finals on November 2. Trainer Jamie Gray's Custard Dolce captured the two-year-old filly title, extending her win streak to eight. Driven by Phil Giesbrecht, Custard Dolce took command early and pulled away to win by 5-3/4 lengths in 1:55, boosting her season earnings to $139,437.
Giesbrecht also won with two-year-old colt Custers Stand, who fought hard to edge out rivals and claim victory in 1:55.4. This emotional win was a bright spot for the Neish family, who have faced health challenges this year.
Outlawguns N Roses continued her streak in the three-year-old filly division, surging from the back to win her Super Final by nearly four lengths. Her earnings reached $285,270 this season.
In the three-year-old colt division, Grey Horizon dominated under trainer/driver Brandon Campbell. The colt led comfortably and won by over a length in 1:55, his seventh straight victory. Owners praised his consistency and shared plans to race him in tougher competitions.
On the undercard, four $15,000 consolations provided thrilling races. Captains Hideway, Carving Credit, Kellys Chase, and Rememberthecustard each secured wins, adding excitement to a memorable night celebrating Alberta’s rising stars.
