Jason Sherman fielded a trio of contenders on Wednesday evening, and all three emerged victorious at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
The highlight of the triumphant trio was Takeapeek At Me, who captured the top honours in the $8,000 conditioned trot, staging an impressive upset. Piloted by Garrett Rooney, the J. Sherman trainee initially settled in seventh position before making a move on the outside.
Despite lingering in eighth place at the midway point and maintaining seventh through the three-quarter mark, Takeapeek At Me unleashed a powerful surge in the final stretch, clocking a final panel of :29.4 to clinch victory by a narrow margin in 2:01.3 over Run Like Hill and Arrakis.
Aged five, Takeapeek At Me, a Trixton-Im Peekers gelding, is co-owned by Betty and Jason Sherman. With a racing career spanning 50 starts, the gelding boasts a commendable record of 9-4-9 and has accumulated earnings amounting to $67,444. The victory rewarded backers with a payout of $10.90.
The winning momentum continued for J. Sherman and Tyler Borth, who collaborated for two additional triumphs to complete an impressive hat-trick of victories on that Wednesday evening.
In the fifth race, Journalistic ($4.00) secured a commanding win in the claiming pace event, leading from start to finish to claim a resounding 5-3/4 length victory in 2:01. Co-owned by Sherman and Kori Maccabe, the seven-year-old Sportswriter-Enchanted Beauty gelding showcased his dominance.
Subsequently, in the sixth race, Eyes Of Justice ($4.10) maintained a front-running position throughout the contest, ultimately clinching a gate-to-wire victory in 2:02 by a margin of 1-1/2 lengths. The six-year-old Justice Hall-Nobody Nos Butme gelding is proudly owned by Sherman.
The Wednesday evening showcase of racing mastery concluded in style, with Jason Sherman and his team delivering a stellar performance across the board.
