Turn The Page N Shines in Speedy Victory at Plainridge Park

Despite challenging weather, Turn The Page N delivered one of the fastest miles of the Plainridge Park meet on Thursday, November 21, winning the $35,211 Fillies and Mares Open Pace.

Swedish Starlet N (Matty Athearn) set a blistering opening quarter in :26.2 before Arizona (Brett Beckwith) surged to the lead and hit the half in :54.3. As the field approached three-quarters in 1:22.1, Turn The Page N (Ron Cushing) advanced from fourth, drawing level with Arizona at the top of the stretch. In the final strides, Turn The Page N edged ahead to win by half a length, stopping the clock at 1:50.2.

This marks the eighth North American win for Turn The Page N ($2.40), co-owned by Ron Cushing and Kevin Sywyk and trained by Heidi Cushing.

The Cushing family enjoyed a stellar day at the track. Mitchell Cushing emerged as the top driver, scoring four wins, including a natural hat trick in races four, five, and six. His victories came aboard JK Will Power (1:53.2, $5.20), Windydayatthebeach (1:54.3, $4.00), Cruizin The Night (1:53.4, $19.20), and Alonso (1:57.3, $5.60), the latter trained by Mike Cushing. Mitchell also secured two runner-up finishes and a third from nine drives, achieving an impressive single-day UDR of .716.

Live harness racing at Plainridge Park continues Friday, November 22, at 1 p.m., featuring a $3,024 carryover in the Wicked Hi-5 pentafecta in race six.

The 2024 meet concludes next week with four race days remaining: Monday (Nov. 25), Tuesday (Nov. 26), Wednesday (Nov. 27), and Friday (Nov. 29). Racing will be dark on Thursday (Nov. 28) in observance of Thanksgiving.
