Uncontrollable is the greatest by far. Berube wins five at H3R

At the Hippodrome 3R, Uncontrollable (Control The Moment) and driver Marie-Claude Auger emerged victorious for the second week in a row. With five victories on his record on Sunday, May 19, Pascal Berube leads all drivers.

In the tenth race, Preferred Pace, Delicate Sound and driver Pascal Berube started the race ahead of Uncontrollable, who moved up to the lead during the first quarter mile in a time of 27.3.

Similar to last week, Uncontrollable dictated the fractions and finished the half-mile in:56.4, with Brodys Scrapper (David Pilon) taking first place and Greystone Watchman (Denis St Pierre) in second. St Pierre passed the three-quarters in 1:26.1, chasing Uncontrollable and sweeping Greystone Watchman around Brodys Scrapper.

As they began the stretch, the two horses were neck and neck apart, but Uncontrollable proved to be too powerful, winning in 1:55.4 by two lengths. Greystone Watchman defeated Kiss Me Bad (Steven Gagnon) to take second place.

For Uncontrollable, it was their third victory of the year and their second win in a row. Louis Philippe Turcotte is the trainer of the six-year-old gelding, who paid $6.10 to win, and is owned by Steve Perreault and Johanne Dechamplain of Mont-Joli, Québec.

Despite being parked out at every turn in the eighth race trot, starting from post 8, Thats Hooligan (Rose Run Hooligan) and driver Marie-Claude Auger managed to gain a significant lead over the field. At 2:00, the 18-1 longshot paid $38.60 to win.

After the start, La Bromontoise (Jerome Lombart), who wired the field the previous week at odds of 43-1, took the lead with Thats Hooligan advancing on the outside.

After catching up to La Bromontoise at the halfway point, Thats Hooligan defeated Timonier (Pascal Berube), the race favourite, and Lorenzo (Mario Lachance) by a margin of two and a half lengths.

Thats Hooligan made his first start of the season. Peter Lapage of St-Liguori is the owner and trainer of the eight-year-old gelding. Additionally, it was the season's quickest trotting mile.

Notes on the Track: With ten victories this season, Berube's quintuple put the defending driving champion ahead of the pack. With her driving double, Marie Claude Auger, who won the two features and both from post 8, is second in wins at 7. Yves Tessier kept a practice duplicate. The first race will be posted at noon on Sunday, May 26, when live harness racing will return.
