Underdog Outlawelectricblue Shines Bright at Fraser Downs
In a surprising turn of events on March 1st at Fraser Downs, the 14-1 longshot Outlawelectricblue, sired by Captive Audience, claimed an unexpected victory in the fifth race.
The three-year-old filly strategically hugged the rail as the starting gates swung open, positioning herself in fourth place while Great Emotion took the lead. The race began with a rapid 27.1-second opening quarter, but the pace gradually slowed down to a 57.1 half and 1:27.3 three-quarters, with Great Emotion maintaining the lead until Outlawelectricblue made a sudden surge down the stretch and clinched the race in a time of 1:57.1.
Great Emotion, the early frontrunner, slipped out of the top three positions, while Catchmegracefully secured second place and Heart Of A Dragon settled for third.
This triumph marks Outlawelectricblue's first win of the year and the second of her career, with Trainer Constance Kolthammer guiding her to victory.
The evening also saw notable performances from drivers Kelly Hoerdt and Scott Knight, each securing three wins. Hoerdt's successful streak began with Ali Gater, a progeny of Betterthancheddar, in the third race, followed by a win with In High Cotton, a ward under his care sired by Somebeachsomewhere, finishing in an impressive time of 1:55.2. Hoerdt's winning streak culminated with Diva Amour, a descendant of Custard The Dragon, crossing the finish line first in the sixth race.
On the other hand, Knight commenced the event by claiming victory in the first race with Watching Marena, sired by Hes Watching, and later triumphed in the seventh race with Million Reasons, offspring of Vertical Horizon. Knight rounded off the night by securing the Late Daily Double with Western Summit, also sired by Vertical Horizon, in the eighth race.
