Visually Expands During A Honeymoon

No race longer than a mile has been won by the graded stakes victor.

Visually, who won the first graded stakes race for trainer Librado Barocio, will try to make it two in a row on June 1 in the $100,000 Honeymoon Stakes (G3T) at Santa Anita Park.

The historic triumph occurred in the Senorita Stakes (G3T) on May 5. In the 6 1/2-mile run down the hill, the daughter of Enticed closed from off the pace and won by a length, pulling off an upset victory of 17-1.

Visually has never started a race longer than a mile, so the 1 1/8-mile Honeymoon course will present a challenge. Helping her get the distance will be jockey Edwin Maldonado, who is a perfect 2-for-2 on the filly—her only two wins.

Visually has made $139,400 and is owned by California Racing Partners, Ciaglia Racing, Fick Brothers Racing, Dario Bernardi, and George Monty.

Resolute Racing's Shiloh's Mistress, making her maiden start on grass and at the nine-furlong distance, finished just a nose short of graded glory in the Providencia Stakes (G3T) at Santa Anita on April 20. She started fast and engaged in a long struggle with the clear favourite Medoro, eventually settling for second place.

If Umberto Rispoli and Michael McCarthy continue to train Shiloh's Mistress, a daughter of Vino Rosso, from the far outside gate, she has the potential to lead the field once more.
