Walner Filly Secures Hard-Fought Victory

The final harness racing card of the week at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania featured three $15,000 races, including two trotting events and a pacing contest, showcasing horses in form.

Leading the trotting field was the impressive Walner sophomore filly, Sister Diane, trained by Åke Svanstedt and driven by Ridge Warren. From the half-mile mark, Sister Diane worked hard to gain the lead and ultimately edged out pacesetter Kelly's Greatest, finishing in 1:55.1. Earlier this season, she recorded a personal best of 1:54 at Pocono. Owned by Stable Why Not and Åke Svanstedt Inc., she continues to demonstrate her potential.

Another highlight was the victory of the Cantab Hall three-year-old gelding, King Strait, who clocked in at 1:56.3. Driver Tyler Buter guided him through a challenging first-up trip, successfully navigating a strong third quarter in :27.3 to secure a 2¾ length win against Barn Credit. King Strait also marked his best time at Pocono this season.

In the pacing realm, Twin B Empress, a three-year-old filly by Always B Miki, triumphed for the second consecutive time, lowering her mark to 1:52.3. Under Buter’s skilful handling, she led decisively, finishing 2 1⁄4 lengths ahead of favoured She’s Got It.

George Napolitano Jr. made three winning drives, bringing him closer to leader Matt Kakaley in seasonal wins. Pocono will continue its Saturday-Monday-Tuesday racing schedule leading up to closing day on November 24, with a first post time of 1 p.m.
