So Frisky emerged victorious in the headline race on Tuesday night (March 12) at The Raceway, located in the Western Fair District, after securing the top spot in the $11,600 Fillies and Mares Preferred event.
Taking charge of the reins, Kelly positioned So Frisky adeptly at the heart of the field. As the race began, and the horses navigated the initial stretch, the Anita Ouellette-trained contender settled comfortably in third place. Following a brisk first quarter of :27.4, So Frisky embarked on an outward trajectory during the journey towards the halfway mark, clocking in at :58.1 and then 1:26.1 at three-quarters distance, where she seized the lead from the exterior.
The mare maintained her momentum, closing the race with a final burst of speed in the last segment, clinching victory by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:56. Claiming the runner-up spot was Shoot The Whiskey, steered by Travis Cullen, while Laila Blue, under the guidance of Travis Henry, secured a commendable third-place finish.
An eight-year-old mare of the Dali-Beauty Delight lineage, So Frisky belongs to Luc Oullette, who, in collaboration with Paul Bernard, is the breeder of this talented mare. This season, the mare has triumphed in three out of seven races, in addition to securing two third-place finishes, along with a fourth and a fifth. Accumulating a total of 41 victories in her 141 career starts, So Frisky has amassed earnings amounting to $325,053. With odds of 9-2, the mare returned a winning payout of $11.00.
