Woodmere Flojo Triumphs in Atlantic Sires Stakes at Inverness

In a thrilling night at Inverness Raceway on July 24, two-year-old pacing fillies showcased their talent in a pair of $15,020 Atlantic Sires Stakes "A" divisions. The standout performance of the evening came from Woodmere Flojo, who claimed victory in the fastest division of the night.

Woodmere Flojo's Journey: Ridden by driver Adam Merner and trained by Jamie Smith, Woodmere Flojo started strong from the rail but quickly settled into a pocket position behind Sandras Prettygirl (driven by Redmond Doucet) after the opening quarter, clocked in 29.4 seconds. As the race progressed, Ruthless Diva (Brodie MacPhee) made a bold move to take the lead at the half, stopping the clock at 59.2 seconds and reaching the three-quarter mark in 1:29.4.

As the field rounded the final turn, Sandras Prettygirl faltered, allowing Woodmere Flojo to regain momentum and take second place. The filly surged ahead, fighting off a late charge from Saulsbrook Inferno (David Dowling) to secure a victory by three-quarters of a length in a final time of 1:59.4. Saulsbrook Inferno finished second, with Ruthless Diva completing the top three.

Woodmere Flojo's Profile: A progeny of Arthur Blue Chip and Persistent, Woodmere Flojo is owned by Gowiththeflo Racing. This win marked her first career victory, bringing her record to 1-1-1 in three starts and earnings of $12,829. She was sent off at 2-1 odds and returned $6.60 for her supporters.

Muchtooyoungforyou's Gate-to-Wire Performance: In the second "A" division, Muchtooyoungforyou, piloted by David Dowling for trainer Earl Watts, showcased a dominant gate-to-wire performance. The filly set slow early fractions, recording splits of 31.1 seconds, 1:02.2, and 1:33, before stopping the clock at 2:02.4. Jafetica (Myles Heffernan) attempted to close in late but settled for second, while Tobins Dream (Rodney Gillis) finished third.

Muchtooyoungforyou's Details: This victory was Muchtooyoungforyou's first career win in two starts, following a second-place effort at Summerside. Owned by Windemere Farms, River Valley Management, and Matt Burke, she was also the 2-1 second choice and returned $6.40 to her backers.

Windemere Fluster's Upset in the "B" Division: In the lone $6,000 ATSS "B" division, Windemere Fluster emerged as a surprise winner at 18-1 odds. Driven by David Dowling, the Earl Watts trainee defeated her stablemate by 1-3/4 lengths, finishing in 2:01.4 and paying out $37.60 to win.

Winners Over Pace: In addition to the stakes races, Euchred, trained by Walter Walker, won the $2,000 Winners Over Pace in a decisive gate-to-wire performance, clocking 1:57.4 and winning by 1-1/2 lengths. This victory marked the 12-year-old gelding's 83rd career win, boosting his lifetime earnings to $167,777.
