Zia Park Implements Immediate New Entry Requirements

In response to a serious outbreak of Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) and other equine health concerns in the area, Zia Park has established new entry regulations for its barn area following consultations with state and national equine health authorities. These new requirements take effect immediately and will remain in place throughout the race meet from November 2 to December 18.

Effective immediately, the following conditions apply:

- For horses stabled at and shipping directly from the Downs at Albuquerque, a Health Certificate must be provided, dated within the last thirty (30) days.

- For horses arriving from other locations, an ORIGINAL (Owner's Copy) Health Certificate issued at the point of origin within five (5) days prior to arrival at Zia Park is required.

- A Negative Coggins test dated within thirty (30) days of arrival at Zia Park is mandatory. Inventory lists will only be accepted from horses/trainers stabled at and shipping directly from the Downs at Albuquerque, as long as they include: Horse Name, Microchip/Tattoo Number, Date of Blood Draw, and Read Dates. Photographic copies of signed inventory lists will not be accepted. Horses arriving from ANY other location must present their ORIGINAL Negative Coggins paperwork upon arrival at the stable gate or have it on file with the Racing Office in advance.

- Quarter Horses must also provide a Negative Piroplasmosis test dated within thirty (30) days prior to arrival at Zia Park. Inventory lists will be accepted if they include the same details as required for Coggins paperwork. Horses arriving from ANY other location need to present their ORIGINAL Negative Piroplasmosis documentation at the stable gate or have it submitted to the Racing Office beforehand.

Horse owners should also be reminded of existing stable gate entry requirements stated in the 2024 Condition Book, which include: 1) proof of Influenza and Rhinopneumonitis vaccinations within the past six (6) months, and 2) proof of vaccinations for Eastern and Western Equine Encephalitis, Tetanus, Rabies, and West Nile within the last twelve (12) months.

Horses that do not comply with this protocol will not be permitted entry into Zia Park. Additionally, all ponies entering the Zia Park barn area are subject to the same entry requirements as racehorses.
