Allegiant Tops Inaugural Standardbred Mixed Sale at $925,000

The inaugural North American Standardbred Mixed Sale, held on Dec. 17 at the Mount Hope Event Center in Ohio, saw Breeders Crown champion Allegiant emerge as the top seller. The three-year-old trotting filly, listed as Hip 225, fetched $925,000 and was purchased by Eagle Riding AB of Sweden. 

Allegiant, a standout in the harness racing scene, boasts a lifetime record of 1:51.1f with 11 wins from 27 starts and earnings of $1,356,448. Previously trained by Vernon Beachy and Linda Toscano for owner Ryan Smith of Ohio, she was consigned by Crystal Springs Stables. 

Other notable sales included Vivacity, a three-year-old trotting filly listed as Hip 273. She was acquired for $200,000 by Joe Miller of Orrville, Ohio. Vivacity, trained by Julie Miller, had a promising first racing season and was consigned by Dublin Valley Farms. 

Absolutely Hanover, another three-year-old trotting filly and Hip 227, sold for $70,000 to Midwind Farms of Middlefield, Ohio. Consigned by Weaver Standardbred Farm, the filly is a full sibling to Pennsylvania Sire Stakes champion Manon. 

In total, 265 entries, including racehorses, weanlings, broodmares, stallions, and stallion shares, were sold at the event. The sale concluded with an average price of $15,604, marking a strong debut for the Standardbred Mixed Sale.
