The stakes season and July 12

The 2024 harness racing stakes season at Hippodrome 3R (H3R) in Quebec kicks off on July 12 with the Breeders Trophy Series for three-year-old trotters. The series will have three preliminary rounds leading to the $65,000 finals for fillies and colts on September 8.

The opening round features three divisions with two $7,500 divisions for colts and geldings. In the first division, Wild Dream Men, driven by Guy Gagnon, is a key competitor. Last season, Wild Dream Men had a strong performance despite a break in the Future Stars Series final, finishing second. He recently won at Rideau Carleton with a time of 1:58.4.

Other competitors in this race include Captain PV, driven by Marie-Claude Auger, who has won his last two starts at H3R, and Last Try, driven by Jerome Lombart, who recently won at H3R.

In the second colt division, Hercules, driven by Stephane Brosseau, stands out with three wins this season, including the fastest time of 1:59.3 at Rideau Carleton. Other contenders include Paradise Moni, HP Run Detector, and Drinklikehenry.

The trotting fillies compete in a $10,000 division, featuring Sensi Amnesia, driven by Marie-Claude Auger, last year's winner of the Future Stars finale. Other notable participants are JD Beauty, Cleomax Duharas, and All She Wrote.

Friday's event also includes the 6th race Preferred-Handicap Trot with recent winners X O X O, Only For Justice, and That’s Hooligan.
